Wilco, Ryan Adams Have PTB Abuzz

The Whole Love is Wilco's 8th studio album.

Alt-country is in in the air, or at least it is here at PTB. This week’s show will feature a Wilco special in light of their new album The Whole Love, which is to be released tomorrow (you can listen to the album in its entirety here). Have they once again gone experimental as they did with Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, departing from their traditional country roots in favor of new and strange sounds? Listen to the first song and you might be inclined to think so. There’s plenty more on the new album, and fear not, PTB will have a full review and an answer to the most pressing question: So, like, is it any good?

Ashes and Fire is Ryan Adams's 13th studio album.

Ryan Adams’s new album Ashes and Fire also comes out soon (Oct. 11). Again, you can listen to the full album here. Early reports say he’s gone mushy on this album. The guy got married to Mandy Moore back in 2009 and hasn’t put out any new albums since. Is he rusty? Does he have a different sound? Is it too soft? Two years might not seem like a long time but in the context of Ryan Adams, one of the most prolific artists out there, it’s practically a decade. Don’t worry, PTB has your back on all these pressing questions.

Be sure to listen in Thursday at 10pm for coverage of the latest twangs reverberating around the alt-country world.
