Now That’s What I Call Boogie! 3: And the Livin’ Is Easy

Welcome back to Now That’s What I Call Boogie!, PTB’s weekly music playlist. Each week’s playlist features a new theme – last week we delved into some late night jams, the week before some pick-me-up tunes – and this week is no different.

Many students are on Spring Break at the moment, myself included, and getting some much needed R&R&Beer. Even if you’re not currently soaking up some rays on a faraway beach, hopefully the warmer weather has found you wherever you are and lifted your spirits. This week’s Now is full of great tunes for the beach, beer pong tournament, or whatever activities you’re engaged in during your days off.

“Escapee” – Architecture in Helsinki – Moment Bends (Modular, V2)

Architecture in Helsinki is a fun band from Australia, one we’ve played many times of the PTB show. Take a listen to one of their most popular songs, Escapee.

“California” – Delta Spirit – Delta Spirit (Rounder)

Delta Spirit released a new self-titled album today and I had a chance to listen to a bit of it. California caught my attention because unlike a lot of the band’s other music, which is often more folk-rock and rootsy, it is unexpectedly modern. Take a listen.

“Girlfriend” – Phoenix – Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix (V2)

The lyrics might be a little gloomy, but it’s a great tune.

“Last Nite” – The Strokes – Is This It (RCA)

Over a decade later, this band, album, and song remain among the best in American rock (according to me).

“Sleepyhead” – Passion Pit – Manners (Frenchkiss)

Gotta love it.

Thanks again for tuning in to this week’s episode of Now That’s What I Call Boogie! As always, if you have suggestions for songs or themes feel free to email them from our Contact page or tweet @PTBat9.
